💡 Usage Recommendations

Skin application — Dilute 1–3% in a vegetable carrier oil (e.g. jojoba, rosehip) and apply to the targeted area. For facial use, keep dilution at 1% or below. Do not apply undiluted to skin.

Capillary (scalp & hair) — Add 2–3 drops to your shampoo or conditioner, or dilute 2–3% in a carrier oil and massage into the scalp. Leave on for 10–15 minutes before rinsing. Particularly effective for oily scalp and hair loss concerns.

Massage — Dilute 2–3% in a carrier oil and massage into the desired area (legs, abdomen, back). Ideal for supporting circulation, liver drainage, and muscle recovery.

Diffusion — Diffuse 5–8 drops in a cold or warm diffuser for sessions of 15–20 minutes in a well-ventilated room. Supports mental clarity, concentration, and respiratory comfort. Do not diffuse continuously.

Inhalation — Place 2–3 drops on a tissue or inhaler stick and breathe deeply 3–5 times. Alternatively, add 3–5 drops to a bowl of hot water, cover your head with a towel, and inhale the steam for 5–10 minutes. Effective for respiratory support and mental fatigue.

Bath — Dilute 5–10 drops in a bath dispersant (e.g. neutral shower gel, milk, or vegetable oil) before adding to warm bathwater. Never add undiluted essential oil directly to bathwater.

Spray — Dilute in water with a solubiliser or in alcohol and use as an aromatic room or linen spray. Shake well before each use.

Cosmetic ingredient — Incorporate into homemade cosmetic formulations (creams, serums, masks) at a concentration of 0.5–1%. Particularly suited to formulations targeting oily, combination, or acne-prone skin.

Ingestion — Only under the guidance of a qualified aromatherapist or healthcare professional. Typical adult protocol: 1 drop in a teaspoon of honey, olive oil, or on a neutral tablet, 2–3 times per day, for a maximum of 3 consecutive weeks. Never ingest undiluted.

Plexus blockage

• For ages 6 and up, and for adults. For topical application, mix one drop of Rosemary Verbenone essential oil with four drops of carrier oil and gently massage the affected solar plexus until absorbed.

Jaundice

Depression

• Suitable for children 6 years and older, and for adults. For topical use, mix 1 drop of Rosemary Verbenone essential oil with 4 drops of vegetable oil and apply to the inside of the wrists and chest, morning and evening. Take a one-week break after three weeks of use.

Detox

• From age 6 and for adults. Orally, 2 drops of Rosemary Verbenone on a neutral tablet, 3 times a day at the end of meals, ideally as a 3-week course.

• Although they are derived from the same plant, the essential oils of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) differ in their chemotypes. There are three main types: cineole-type rosemary essential oil, camphor-type rosemary essential oil, and verbenone-type rosemary essential oil. While they share certain properties, these three essential oils do not have the same uses.

• Rosemary has been used extensively in cooking and as a medicinal plant throughout history. Its name comes from the Latin *ros marinus*, meaning "sea dew," a reference to its Mediterranean coastal origins. Indeed, while rosemary varieties differ depending on their geographical origin, they all come from countries bordering the Mediterranean.

• Thus, from the same species of plant Rosmarinus officinalis, different chemotypes have emerged… camphoriferum, cineoliferum and verbenoniferum! But then, how is it possible to obtain several chemotypes of Rosemary and in what way are they so different?

Rosemary Verbenone: A Legendary Plant

From antiquity to the present day

• This small shrub has been used since antiquity. Before it was cultivated, it was gathered in the wild. It grows abundantly in the scrubland around the Mediterranean basin. The Egyptians believed that by placing rosemary branches near the tombs of their dead, they helped strengthen their souls to pass more easily into the afterlife. They burned them during funeral rites to purify the air and ward off evil gods.

• Greek students made rosemary wreaths and garlands believed to stimulate memory and aid their learning. In Rome, wreaths woven from rosemary and laurel were placed on the heads of newlyweds as a symbol of happiness and fertility.

The legend: the water of the Queen of Hungary

• In medieval Hungary, a hermit created a rosemary hydrosol which he called "Water of the Queen of Hungary." He presented it to Saint Isabel of Hungary in 1363. Legend has it that thanks to this hydrosol, she retained her incredible beauty even in old age.

• Rosemary found its way into the courts of Europe's elite: it treated the Sun King's (Louis the 14th, a.k.a. Roi Soleil) rheumatism, and it was adopted by Madame de Sévigné to alleviate her sorrows…

• Rosemary essential oil is used in many perfumes, including the famous Eau de Cologne, which is still the talk of the town today. Verbenone rosemary is also known as "Rose Marine" or "Troubadour's Rosemary." What a strange name for a plant that is supposedly sacred! Rosmarinus comes from the Latin words for "dew" and "sea."

Sea Dew

• It is grown in the south of France in dry, sunny soil. It can also grow near the coasts of warm countries such as southern Africa. The flowering tops are harvested with a small sickle to cut them without damaging them between August and September. Growing up to 1 meter tall, its powerful aromatic scent fills the gardens of Provence.

• It was given this name because it thrives particularly well along the coast. 50 kg of plants yield 1 kg of essential oil. Rosemary is especially popular in cooking, where it is used to season grilled meats, barbecues, and Provençal-style vegetables. Why is it blue? During her flight to Egypt, the Virgin Mary is said to have fallen asleep near a rosemary grove. Her blue cloak is said to have covered the flowers, which were originally white, and given them their color.
