At Aimée de Mars, rose is part of the story of the House.

For our creations, we select a Damask Rose absolute (Rosa x Damascena), grown in Bulgaria, in the famous Rose Valley. Each spring, the flowers are handpicked in the first hours of the day, when the coolness of the night has preserved the full delicacy of their scent. They are then quickly processed to retain the complete richness of their olfactory facets.

In the Jardin d'Aimée, Valérie also cultivates several rose varieties, including the Rose de Provins (Rosa gallica), the Damask Rose and the Sweet Love. Harvested in rhythm with the seasons, they are distilled in the copper alembic with our precious spring water from St Genulphe to give birth to our rose floral water — a faithful reflection of the garden.

At Aimée de Mars, we select an Italian bergamot (Citrus bergamia), grown in Calabria, the historic home of this exceptional fruit.

Bergamot trees thrive in a mild climate, between sea and mountain, which encourages the development of their fruits. At maturity, the bergamots are harvested and their zest is delicately cold-pressed to extract an essential oil of great freshness, while preserving the richness of its aromatic molecules.

Each harvest is the result of a balance between climate, terroir and the expertise of the producers — an attention to every step that allows the full subtlety of this material to be revealed.

Like all materials selected by Aimée de Mars, bergamot is chosen for its authenticity, its quality, and the respect for the living world that accompanies its cultivation.

Two origins, two expressions of vanilla

At Aimée de Mars, we work with two complementary expressions of vanilla: a vanilla tincture from Madagascar and a vanilla absolute from New Guinea, Papua.

Vanilla is the fruit of a climbing orchid. After flowering, the pods develop slowly before being harvested while still green. Then begins a long transformation process: blanched, steamed, dried and aged for several months. It is through this maturation that their scent reveals itself and gains in depth.

The Madagascar vanilla tincture offers a supple and nuanced expression of the material. Obtained by macerating the pods in alcohol, it captures their natural sweetness, balsamic facets and delicately spicy warmth.

Denser, the New Guinea vanilla absolute reveals a deep and enveloping personality. Its darker, woody and sometimes slightly smoky nuances enrich compositions and extend their presence on the skin.

These two origins allow Aimée de Mars to work vanilla in all its complexity, far from a uniform or overly sweet sweetness.
