Collection: Herbaceous Essential Oils

Herbaceous essential oils are steam-distilled from the green, aromatic parts of plants — leaves, stems, flowering tops, and sometimes roots. They carry the fresh, green, sometimes camphoraceous or minty scent profile that defines classic aromatherapy: think lavender, rosemary, thyme, peppermint, marjoram, sage, basil, and tarragon. These are among the most researched and widely used essential oils in the world of natural wellness.

The vast majority of our herbaceous essential oils are certified organic, steam-distilled to preserve their full chemical complexity — from the calming linalool of lavender to the invigorating menthol of peppermint, the expectorant cineole of rosemary, or the warming thymol and carvacrol of thyme and savory. Each chemotype and botanical origin brings its own distinct aromatic and functional profile, making these oils highly versatile across aromatherapy, natural skincare, respiratory support, and home care.

Whether you are looking for a pure organic lavender for stress relief and sleep, a rosemary essential oil for hair care and mental clarity, a peppermint oil for freshness and digestion, or specialty botanicals like melissa, hyssop, or clary sage, this collection grows continuously with rigorously sourced, unadulterated herbaceous essential oils — always free from synthetic additives, always true to their botanical origin.

Looking for herbaceous essential oils to bring fresh, green character to your home? Explore aromatic plants and herbs for a diffuser, home fragrance or personal scent blend. Whether you're new to essential oils or refining an aromatherapy collection, compare the distinctive profiles of rosemary, thyme, sage, marjoram and mint alongside other botanical aromas in this collection.

If you enjoy choosing a scent for a quiet evening, a yoga practice or a refreshing start to the day, follow your nose. Soft lavender and chamomile, crisp eucalyptus and mint, and more assertive herbal notes offer different ways to shape an atmosphere. Aromatherapy is a scent-led personal practice; how an aroma feels can vary from person to person, and these oils are not treatments for health conditions.

Prefer creating your own scented skincare or massage blend? Explore individual oils for carefully diluted topical use only when the specific product directions permit it, or compare their aromas before making a blend. Essential oils are concentrated: check each product's instructions and precautions, particularly around children, pregnancy, pets and sensitive skin. Explore the product details to find an oil that suits the way you plan to use it.

Explore the green, fresh character of herbaceous essential oils. This collection currently brings together certified organic essential oils with aromatic profiles ranging from soft floral herbs and cool mints to resinous, forest-fresh notes. Whether you are choosing an oil for a diffuser or building an aromatic blend, discover the distinctive scents of familiar herbs and botanicals.

Clary Sage — Salvia sclarea — a warm, musky, subtly herbaceous essential oil. Its rounded aroma brings a soft, grounding note to a relaxing aromatic setting.

Sweet Marjoram — Origanum majorana — gently spicy and herbaceous, with a softly woody edge. A comforting scent for an evening diffuser blend.

Winter Savory — Satureja montana — an assertive, spicy herbal aroma for those who enjoy bold Mediterranean botanical notes.

Tarragon — Artemisia dracunculus — a distinctive green, herbal aroma that adds a lively character to aromatic blends.

Thyme — distinct aromatic profiles — explore Thyme Thujanol and Borneol Thyme for different expressions of this familiar Mediterranean herb. Choose by the individual oil’s aroma and product details rather than treating thyme varieties as interchangeable.

Rosemary — three aromatic profiles — Rosemary Verbenone, Rosemary Cineole and Rosemary Camphor offer different takes on rosemary’s fresh herbal scent. Their individual product descriptions help you find the profile that suits your blend.

Bay Laurel — a richly aromatic leaf oil that lends a green, spicy-herbal accent to a botanical fragrance blend.

Spike Lavender — a bolder lavender expression for those looking beyond softer floral lavender notes.

Lavandin Grosso & Lavandin Super — two lavandin choices with fresh, lavender-like herbal aromas. Compare their individual aromatic descriptions to pick the right note for your diffuser or blend.

Roman Chamomile — a gentle floral-herbal note with a long tradition in aromatherapy, often chosen for a quiet, comforting aromatic ritual.

Italian Helichrysum / Immortelle — a distinctive aromatic botanical for those who enjoy nuanced herbal scents in their essential oil collection.

Melissa / Lemon Balm — Melissa officinalis — a fresh, citrus-herbal oil valued for its delicate aromatic presence in traditional aromatherapy.

Lemon Verbena — a bright lemon-herbal aroma that lends a fresh lift to an aromatic blend.

Spearmint, Cornmint & Peppermint — explore three mint choices for crisp, cooling aromatic impressions, each with its own scent profile. Check the individual product details before choosing one for your routine.

Fine Lavender & True Lavender — Lavandula angustifolia — softly floral and herbal lavender oils, familiar choices for a calm-feeling aromatic atmosphere and traditional diffuser rituals.

Green Myrtle — a fresh green botanical aroma for layered herbal blends.

Tea Tree, Niaouli & Cajeput — discover fresh, clear aromatic profiles alongside the softer herbs in this collection. Each oil has a distinct scent; consult its product page for the details that matter to your intended use.

Bring a fresh, green note to everyday rituals with herbaceous essential oils. This collection spans familiar lavender and rosemary alongside mint, thyme, chamomile, eucalyptus and other aromatic plants. Explore scents for a calming evening atmosphere, a clear-feeling morning routine, diluted body care and naturally fragrant spaces. Choose each oil by its aroma and product-specific directions; organic certification, purity and recommended uses can vary by product.

Stress relief, relaxation & sleep support — for an unhurried wind-down, the soft floral-herbal aromas of Fine Lavender, Roman Chamomile and Sweet Marjoram lend themselves to an evening diffuser blend or a carefully diluted massage ritual. Melissa / Lemon Balm and Vetiver offer contrasting lemony and earthy notes for a restful-feeling setting. Aromatherapy is often used as part of relaxation routines, but an essential oil is not a treatment for anxiety or a sleep disorder. For a brighter start, the fresh scents of Peppermint and Rosemary Cineole can make a space feel more invigorating.

Skin care, regeneration & anti-ageing — bring botanical fragrance to a simple skin-care ritual with appropriately diluted essential oils. Tea Tree's crisp herbal scent suits a blemish-prone skin-care routine, while Italian Helichrysum / Immortelle and Roman Chamomile offer softer aromatic notes for face and body blends. Fine Lavender and Rose-scented alternatives need not define the ritual: select an oil that suits your skin and preferred scent, and check its individual usage guidance. Essential oils do not replace proven treatment for acne, scarring or signs of ageing; patch test before use and avoid applying them undiluted.

Respiratory health & immune support — when you want a crisp, fresh-smelling room, Eucalyptus Radiata, Eucalyptus Globulus, Niaouli, Cajeput, Green Myrtle, Scots Pine and Rosemary Cineole offer distinct herbal, camphoraceous or forest-like diffuser aromas. Their scents can complement a seasonal home routine, but diffusing essential oils does not prevent infections, purify air of pathogens or treat breathing problems. Follow each oil's directions, particularly around children, pets and anyone sensitive to fragrance.

Hair growth, scalp care & hair loss support — a diluted scalp massage can turn hair care into a fresh, aromatic ritual. Rosemary chemotypes bring a lively herbal note; Tea Tree adds a clean, bracing scent, while Clary Sage and lavender offer a softer finish. Blend only oils suitable for topical use into a carrier oil or an appropriate hair-care product, following the individual product instructions. These scents may enhance a scalp-care routine, but they should not be presented as a proven solution for hair loss, dandruff or hair growth.

Muscle & joint comfort, digestion & home wellness — after a busy day, a properly diluted Sweet Marjoram, Lavandin or Rosemary Camphor massage blend can add warmth and fragrance to a body-care routine without promising pain relief. Peppermint, Spearmint, Tarragon and Caraway offer distinctive minty or herbal notes for a fresh-feeling setting; an essential oil should not be used to treat digestive symptoms. For home fragrance, Lemongrass, Java Citronella, eucalyptus and lavender can bring bright, green or floral-herbal character to a diffuser. Follow label directions, avoid ingesting essential oils unless a product specifically directs it, and seek professional advice for persistent symptoms.

Explore the green, leafy character of herbaceous essential oils, from sweet marjoram’s warm herbal aroma to rosemary’s brisk freshness. Try a diffuser, a carefully diluted massage blend or a personal fragrance, choosing each oil for its aroma and the use permitted on its label. Essential oils are concentrated: start with a small amount and follow product-specific directions.

Aromatherapy & diffusing — add a suitable oil to your diffuser according to the diffuser and product instructions. Fine lavender and Roman chamomile offer gentle floral notes for a quiet evening atmosphere; sweet marjoram brings warmth, spearmint a green freshness, and Scots pine or silver fir a forest-like scent. Diffuse intermittently in a ventilated room, taking extra care around children and pets.

Topical use & skincare — if the individual oil is suitable for skin use, dilute it in a carrier oil before applying. Fine lavender, Roman chamomile and helichrysum offer different floral and herbal fragrance profiles for body-care blends. Check each product’s dilution guidance, patch-test first and avoid eyes and sensitive areas; suitability varies by oil and skin.

Haircare & scalp treatments — choose a suitable oil for the scent of a diluted scalp-massage blend: rosemary cineole has a brisk herbal character, while lavender adds a softer floral note and spearmint a fresh green accent. Follow the individual oil’s directions and the base product’s instructions before incorporating essential oils into a haircare routine; avoid contact with the eyes.

Inhalation — for a brief aromatic moment, place a drop of an oil appropriate for this method on a tissue and enjoy its scent from a comfortable distance. Eucalyptus radiata and green myrtle have crisp, cineolic notes; peppermint is distinctly menthol-rich and more intense. Do not apply oil inside the nose or near the eyes, and check the label for individual precautions.

Natural home care — introduce herbaceous fragrance to a home-care routine with a suitable essential oil. Tea tree has a characteristic green, medicinal aroma, while lemongrass and Java citronella bring bright lemony-green notes. Essential oils do not disperse evenly in plain water; use an appropriate formulation, check surface compatibility and never rely on a scented blend as a disinfectant.

DIY natural cosmetics — create a personal scent in a properly formulated body oil or perfume with oils suitable for the intended use. Blend the floral softness of fine lavender or Roman chamomile with the warm herbaceous note of sweet marjoram, or pair the green freshness of spearmint with a restrained woody note of vetiver. Keep concentrations within each oil’s recommended limits and never apply undiluted essential oils directly to skin.

Keep essential oils away from children, eyes and mucous membranes. Do not ingest them unless specifically directed by a qualified professional. If pregnant or breastfeeding, using oils around children or pets, or managing a health condition, seek qualified advice before use. Individual product labels take priority over general aromatherapy guidance.

When you choose a herbaceous essential oil — lavender, rosemary, peppermint, thyme, clary sage, eucalyptus or tea tree — certifications are your most reliable way to know what is really in the bottle. Across our collection of organic herbaceous essential oils, these guarantees work on three levels, each with its own scope and independent verification.

Organic & origin certifications — the vast majority of our herbaceous oils are certified organic under the European Union organic regulation (EU 2018/848), recognisable by the EU organic leaf logo. It means the aromatic plants are grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers. Selected French oils also carry the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) label, a French government certification for farms meeting defined criteria on biodiversity and environmental practices. Where an oil comes from a protected terroir, such as lavender essential oil from Haute-Provence, you will find the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO / AOP), a European guarantee of authentic geographical origin and traditional production.

Independent inspection bodies & associations — organic status is verified by accredited third-party certifiers such as Ecocert and Bureau Veritas. Some of our oils are additionally certified by Nature & Progrès, an association whose organic charter goes beyond the EU baseline and includes criteria on small-scale, environmentally respectful farming.

Quality & identity labels — many of our oils are labelled HEBBD (Botanically and Biochemically Defined Essential Oil) and/or HECT (Chemotyped Essential Oil). These designations, widely used as a reference in French aromatherapy, state the exact botanical species, the plant part distilled and the chemotype — the dominant natural compounds, such as rosemary ct. cineole, ct. camphor or ct. verbenone, or thyme ct. thujanol. This matters because two oils from the same plant can have very different profiles. Most of our herbaceous oils are obtained by steam distillation, and nearly all are 100% pure and natural, Vegan and Cruelty-Free. Essential oils are not medicines: always dilute before skin use and follow the precautions listed on each product page.

Traceable sourcing & transparent pricing — our herbaceous oils are sourced mainly from French growing regions such as Drôme Provençale, Provence and Occitanie, and from other traditional producing regions in Europe and around the world. Wherever possible we work directly with small-scale producers and independent distillers; otherwise, with trusted specialist partners who share our standards for quality and traceability. Short supply chains let us show where each oil comes from — and keep prices fair for certified organic essential oils.

Herbaceous essential oils capture the vitality of aromatic plants at their most green and alive: the crisp intensity of peppermint and spearmint, the warm depth of rosemary chemotypes and sweet marjoram, the luminous herbaceousness of fine lavender, lavandin and spike lavender, and the subtler facets of clary sage, hyssop, bay laurel, lemon verbena and melissa. This growing collection brings together steam-distilled botanicals from traditional aromatic plant families — Lamiaceae, Myrtaceae, Asteraceae — alongside conifer oils, grasses and resinous Mediterranean shrubs.

The vast majority of oils in this collection are certified organic. Botanical precision matters: rosemary is offered as distinct chemotypes — verbenone, cineole and camphor — each with a different aromatic profile and traditional use. Fine lavender, true lavender, lavandin Grosso and lavandin Super are not interchangeable; nor are spearmint, cornmint and peppermint. Each product page states the exact botanical name, chemotype where applicable, origin and any certification, so you can make an informed choice.

Our approach to aromatherapy is grounded in the sensory and traditional dimensions of each oil. The resinous warmth of mastic tree, the camphoraceous freshness of eucalyptus radiata, tea tree, niaouli and cajeput, the woody lift of scots pine and silver fir, the citrus-herbaceous brightness of lemongrass and citronella — each brings a distinct aromatic character to a diffuser blend or a personal care formulation. Traditional aromatherapy uses offer genuine inspiration; essential oils are not medicines, and individual experiences vary.

Herbaceous essential oils are suited to aromatic diffusion, natural perfumery, personal care and home care formulations. Steam distillation is the primary extraction method across this collection. Before applying any essential oil to skin, read the product-specific directions and precautions: these are concentrated plant extracts and dilution guidelines differ from oil to oil. Oils from this collection that are offered in food grade are clearly identified on the relevant product pages.

Are the herbaceous essential oils in this collection pure, natural, and organic? The vast majority are 100% pure and natural, distilled from organically grown aromatic herbs and plants. This collection focuses on the green, fresh, and camphoraceous world of herbaceous aromatics — lavender, rosemary, thyme, peppermint, eucalyptus, Roman chamomile, helichrysum, clary sage, bay laurel, and many more. Each product page details the botanical name, origin, production method, and certification where it applies.

What makes a herbaceous essential oil different from other essential oils? Herbaceous essential oils are distilled from the leaves, stems, flowers, or aerial parts of aromatic plants — herbs, sub-shrubs, and perennial grasses. Their aromas tend to be green, fresh, minty, camphoraceous, or balsamic rather than sweet or woody. Classics of the category include lavender, rosemary, peppermint, spearmint, lemongrass, thyme, and eucalyptus, alongside more specialised herbs such as hyssop, winter savory, tarragon, mastic tree, cajeput, and niaouli. This aromatic signature makes them versatile middle notes widely used in aromatherapy, cosmetics, and natural home care.

What does certified organic mean for a herbaceous essential oil? Organic certification confirms that the aromatic herbs were grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, under a recognised organic standard. For herbaceous crops such as lavender, rosemary, peppermint, or lemongrass — which are often grown at scale — certified organic sourcing matters for both purity and environmental impact. Certification standards vary by country and certifying body, so the relevant details are documented on each individual product page and label. Check the specific listing when organic status is important to your choice.

What is a chemotype, and why is it especially relevant for herbaceous essential oils? Herbaceous plants are particularly prone to chemotypic variation — meaning that the same species can produce oils with meaningfully different chemical profiles depending on where and how the plants grow. Rosemary illustrates this well: this collection includes rosemary cineole, rosemary camphor, and rosemary verbenone, each with a distinct aromatic character. Thyme appears as thujanol and borneol varieties. Spearmint and cornmint, though related, are separate species with different profiles. Always check the chemotype and botanical details on the product page when selecting a herbaceous oil for a specific aromatic or therapeutic purpose.

What do HEBBD and HECT mean on a herbaceous essential oil label? HEBBD (botanically and biochemically defined essential oil) and HECT (chemotyped essential oil) are quality descriptors used in French aromatherapy practice to document an oil's botanical origin and, where relevant, its chemical type. They are particularly valued for herbaceous oils where chemotypic variation is significant — such as rosemary, thyme, or lavender. These terms are not a universal standard and do not appear on every product in the collection. Where they are present, the relevant documentation can be found on the individual product listing.

How should I dilute and safely use herbaceous essential oils on skin? Herbaceous essential oils are concentrated and vary in skin compatibility. Oils rich in camphor, thymol, or menthol — such as rosemary camphor, winter savory, or peppermint — require careful dilution and may not be suitable for all skin types. Lavender and Roman chamomile are among the gentler options but still warrant attention to dilution ratios. Always read the safety precautions on the individual product page, dilute in a suitable carrier oil as directed, and avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, those selecting oils for children, or those with health conditions should consult a qualified professional before use.

Which herbaceous essential oils in this collection suit DIY cosmetics, hair care, or home blending? Herbaceous oils are among the most widely used in handmade products. Lavender, lavandin, and rosemary are staples in skin and hair care; peppermint, spearmint, and lemongrass bring fresh herbal top notes to balms and rinses; helichrysum and Roman chamomile are valued for their gentle aromatic profile in facial blends; eucalyptus, niaouli, cajeput, and tea tree bring a clean, green freshness to home and body care. Check each product's recommended use, allergens, and dilution guidance before adding it to a formula, as suitability varies by oil and application.

How do I choose the right herbaceous essential oil from this collection? This collection brings together more than fifty organic herbaceous essential oils spanning a wide aromatic range — from the familiar floral-herb character of fine lavender and Roman chamomile, to the sharp, penetrating notes of eucalyptus globulus and silver fir, to the earthy warmth of vetiver and the citrus-herb brightness of lemon verbena and lemongrass. When selecting an oil, consider its botanical name, chemotype where applicable, aromatic profile, and intended use. Compare bottle sizes and price per volume on the individual listings to find the right option for your needs.

Where can I find full details about each herbaceous essential oil in this collection? Each product page includes the botanical name, chemotype, country of origin, production method, ingredient information, directions for use, and safety precautions for that specific oil.
