Ecocert & Bureau Veritas — the certifying bodies — independent accredited auditors who verify that products comply with the COSMOS standard. Their logos on a product confirm compliance — they are not organic labels in themselves. Once a product passes their audit, the certifying body issues a certificate granting the right to carry the CosméBio label.

Certified organic plant extracts — EU Organic Farming — the plant extract range in this collection — Ashwagandha, Griffonia, Tulsi, Maca, and Lapacho — is certified organic under EU Organic Farming regulation. These are food supplement-grade certified organic extracts, not cosmetic products. Their certification is governed by EU food and supplement regulation, not the COSMOS cosmetic standard. The St. John’s Wort macerate — certified organic, for external use — the certified organic St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) oil macerate is certified organic under EU Organic Farming regulation. It is a topical product — for external use only in this macerate format. Its certification covers the agricultural origin of the plant material and the carrier oil base. As noted on the product page, St. John’s Wort is known to interact with a range of medications — consult a healthcare professional before use if taking any prescription medication.

Free from synthetic chemicals — across the entire collection — certified organic or natural — no synthetic aroma chemicals, no synthetic preservatives, no parabens, no phthalates, no petrochemical solvents. Which essential oil is best for sleep support? — Fine Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is the most widely used and most studied certified organic essential oil for sleep and nervous system calming in aromatherapy practice — rich in linalool and linalyl acetate. Roman Chamomile is the most deeply calming, particularly for children and sensitive individuals. Petitgrain and Bergamot are well-suited to early evening diffusion for their balancing and mood-supportive profiles. For a grounding, long-lasting bedroom atmosphere, Atlas Cedar and Patchouli work well as base notes in a diffusion blend. The Organic Blend Sweet Dreams and Organic Blend Relaxation & Sleep are pre-formulated options that combine several of these oils without blending from scratch.

What is the difference between Fine Lavender and Lavandin? — Fine Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia) are distinct plants with different aromatic profiles and uses. Fine Lavender is richer in linalool and linalyl acetate and lower in camphor — the most studied lavender for nervous system calming and sleep support, and the most suitable for direct skin application and pillow misting. Lavandin (Super and Grosso) has a higher camphor content and a more robust, balsamic character — more stimulating than Fine Lavender, better suited to room diffusion for atmosphere and muscle relaxation than as a direct sleep aid. Both are certified organic and available in multiple sizes in this collection.

How do I use essential oils safely for sleep? — The safest and most effective routes for sleep support are diffusion and pillow misting. For diffusion: add 5–10 drops to an electric or ultrasonic diffuser, diffuse for 30–60 minutes before sleep, then switch off — do not diffuse overnight. For pillow misting: the Pillow Mist Night Elixir and Pillow Mist Zest of Serenity are ready to use — spray 2–3 times onto the pillow 5–10 minutes before sleep. The Lavender Flower Sachet is a safe, non-topical option for the bedroom at any age. What are hydrolats and how are they used for sleep? — Hydrolats — also called floral waters or hydrosols — are the water-based co-product of steam distillation of plant material. They contain the water-soluble aromatic compounds of the plant in a gentle, alcohol-free, ready-to-use form — no dilution required. For sleep: mist the certified organic Fine Lavender Hydrolat or Roman Chamomile Hydrolat onto the pillow or face before bed. The Orange Blossom and Damask Rose Hydrolats are used in the same way — as part of an evening skin care or relaxation routine. All four hydrolats in this collection are alcohol-free, pH-balanced, and gentle enough for sensitive skin and children.

What is Griffonia and is it safe to use? — Griffonia (Griffonia simplicifolia) is a certified organic plant extract that is a natural source of 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), a precursor to serotonin. It is taken orally as a food supplement according to the dosage on the product page. It is not an essential oil and is not used in diffusion or topically. Important: Griffonia should not be combined with antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, or other serotonergic medication without medical advice, due to the risk of serotonin syndrome.
